Challenge: SUO #33 My Favourite Holiday Colours

Wow, it's been a while since I last entered a challenge! It's so easy to let the Holiday Season take over! I looked back and the last Stampin' Up! Only Challenge I entered was in the fall for "Fall Colours". It's very fitting that the one I am entering now is my favourite holiday colours :) When I think of Christmas I always think of snow and a rich red - of cranberries and cherries and red delicious apples... on pies and yummy Christmas treats. Snow rarely shows up as just white in my mind, there's always that tinge of ice blue. The final colours that join the medley are, of course, green because of the Christmas trees and evergreens in winter and then finally kraft. I love to wrap my gifts in kraft paper with a beautifully colourful ribbon because it always reminds me of the lyrics: "brown paper packages tied up with string, those are a few of my favourite things..." which is one of my favourite Christmas songs! I find Christmas is a mix of subtles and regals for me: Cherry Cobbler, Marina Mist, Bashful Blue, Whisper White, Certainly Celery, Wild Wasabi, and Crumb Cake!!

World Card Making Day ALL Canadian Blog Hop

Welcome Hoppers!! I hope you're all having a very happy World Card Making day :) I have to say I'm very excited as this is my very first blog hop and I'm honoured to be a part of such an inspirational network of Canadians!! If you've just arrived from Donna's Yellow Dog Greetings then you are on the right track. If you've just visited me and would like to start the hop from the beginning, then head on over to visit Tara at Creative Accents for the beginning of the hop (I have a list of all the bloggers in the first hop at the end of this post in case you got lost along the way). I hope you grabbed a cup of coffee because there are so many awesome Canadian crafters that we broke into TWO hops!  If you still have some stamina and would like to check out the second hop, go see Nicole at Canadian Nickel's Scrapn!

Now, on to my project. In honor of World Card Making Day I decided to create a card set. And, as fall is sweeping through the island I have been trying diligently to work on my Christmas cards!

This card set uses two different stamp sets: Jolly Bingo Bits and A Friend for all Seasons. I LOVE LOVE LOVE these new-to-me sets and how well they go together!

Each card is 3 1/4 x 3 1/4. The inner frame is 2 1/2 x 2 1/2. I paper pierced the inner frame to create a border and sponged both Crumb Cake pieces with Whisper White Craft Ink. I used the snowflake stamp from A Friend for all Seasons on the card base in Whisper White Craft Ink and then stamped the tree in Soft Sued. I stamped the candy cane, ornament and bell in Cherry Cobbler on both the tree and a separate piece of Whisper White card stock and then cut them out with my paper snippers. Then I adhered them to the card on top of where I'd originally stamped them with dimensionals!

I love how simple the cards are to make so I think I can reproduce 50 of them easily for all my friends and family this year.

Ingredients
Stampin' Up! (SU) A Season of Friendship Stamp Set
SU Jolly Bingo Bits Stamp Set
SU Whisper White and Crumb Cake Card Stock
SU Soft Sued and Cherry Cobbler Classic Ink
 SU Whisper White Craft Ink

I hope you enjoyed my project as much as I enjoyed making it!! Now, what's a hop without some candy? I have some travel stamps in photo polymer (pictured below).  All you need to do is leave a comment and a way to contact you on this post by Sunday night. I will draw and announce the winner via Random.org on Monday morning!

Now you're ready for the last super crafty Canadian in the hop: Charmaine's Tweed Curtain. Don't forget that there's a second Canadian hop that starts with the Canadian Nickel! Happy Hopping!

Challenge: Easy as 1, 2, 3

Through the Canadian Crafters' group on Facebook I found a fun new challenge site: Seriously Creative Challenges. This site has monthly challenges and for September we are to use 1 ribbon, 2 embellishments, and 3 patterned papers.

I am a self-declared paper hoarder, so I thought this would be a good opportunity to use some of the beautiful DSP I bought two months ago! I rarely use more than one patterned paper at a time so this definitely was a challenge for me!! My mother wanted me to make a card for a friend of her's who is in the hospital. She loves flowers and purple, so I thought the Pocketful of Posies (which is my absolute favourite paper right now) would be perfect. Thankfully she's recovering quickly :)

Challenge: SUO #28 Fall Colours

Backpacks, pencils, rulers, chalkboards, falling leaves... yes these are the things I think of when I think of fall. It's hard to believe that it's already mid-September! It feels like only weeks ago it was spring and my darling little girl was born. This week the talented ladies at SU-Only Challenges what we think of when we're asked to make something with Fall Colors. The stamp that popped immediately into my head was the tree from the "Season of Freindship"set. I'd been eyeing this set for quite some time before I finally bought it, rationalizing that it would be perfect for my Christmas cards (which it will be :). I have to say, it's currently my favourite set! As for colours - the Regals collection came to mind as I dreamed of golden yellows and deep oranges. The perfect green is Old Olive as it seems like an aged green.

Challenge: Use it Tuesdays #15

I found a new challenge blog the other day that I really love - Use it Tuesdays - the premise is to use our hoarded supplies. This should really get me using both my DSP (I am a paper hoarder) and stamp sets that I just love and buy, but then they sit on the shelf waiting for inspiration. Well, now I have the motivation!! This week we are to use an un-inked stamp. More than a few months ago I purchased a retired Stampin' Up! stamp set online for a song..."Wings of Friendship"... and have yet to use it *sheepish grin* So I thought this is my chance! I looked in this month's issue of Stampin' Success and was inspired by a neat technique using the new Simply Scored tool - ruffled paper! It was so simple!! I grabbed my DSP and started ruffling and I must say this is a technique I am going to use again! So simple, yet it adds so much to a card! I also had fun making the spiral rose :)

I've been eager to play with this set for months now and finally purchased it. I LOVE LOVE LOVE it! I can't wait to start my Christmas cards with this elegant tree! I think this is one of the most versatile sets in the catalogue!

The ribbons in Stampin' Up!'s catalogs are so beautiful and fun to play with that SU-Only Challenges decided we just had to have a challenge to feature them as more than just an embellishment!  I knew that I had to play with the new Ruffled Ribbon in my favourite new in-colour "Pool Party" as well as the Seam Binding Ribbon in "Pear Pizzazz". I really enjoy puting blue and green together :)

Challenge: ColourQ #100 and Colour Create 78

Ah September, it's a time for newness. This will be the first September in a long time that I'm not at school. I'm a little sad, but also excited as I look forward to a year with my precious little girl!

It is the 100th challenge at ColourQ this week. To celebrate we get to use a sketch from Clean & Simple Stamping (fall-to layout #155)  along with our favourite past challege colour combination. I have been wanting to start my Christmas cards and have been looking for an excuse to breakout my new Stampin' Up! striped grosgrain ribbon! The Challenge over at Colour Create this week is to use Kraft, Red, and White/Cream so I just had to combine these two challenges! I used a jumbo brad to create the center of the bow by wrapping a scrap piece of ribbon around it and adhering it with glue dots. I had lots of fun playing with my whisper white craft ink as well. It's not as messy as I thought it would be :)

Stampin' Up! (SU) Cherry Cobbler, Whisper White, and Crumb Cake Card Stock
SU Letters to Santa DSP

Challenge: PPA #105 & SUO #24 Get Well Cards

My mojo sure has returned! I am having a great time playing with one of my newest stamp sets "I {Heart} Hearts". Although it's not new to the Stampin' Up! line, it's new to me and I {Heart} it. I created the card below to be entered into two different challenges - Pals Paper Arts' current colour challenge is using the new in-colours Island Indigo and Lucky Limeade along with Daffodil Delight - a sweet combination, especially for summer.

This will be my first time entering a card at Pals Paper Arts as well as the Stampin' Up! Only Challenge blog. This week at SUO the challenge is to create a Get Well card - something that is always a good idea to have in one's card stash. I'd been wanting to use the stamp "You're in my thoughts; you're in my heart" with "I {Heart} Hearts" since I got it, so thought this would  be a great opportunity to do it. Hope you like it!

Challenge: ColourQ #96

Summer is half over and I sure have been ignoring my craft room - the weather has been so wonderful lately.

The "cue" this week at ColourQ is to use Tempting Turquois, Bashful Blue, Lucky Limeade, Basic Gray, and Whisper White inspired by this Trailing Vines Duvet Cover. These colours are bright and soft at the same time, reminding me of a wild flower field under a bright summer sky. So I decided butterflies (one of my faves) would be perfect for this combination. Hope you like it!

Challenge: Wacky Wednesday 38 - Anything Goes

The current Wacky Wednesday challenge over at More Than Favors is "Anything Goes." I thought for a while about what I should create for this challenge and decided something funny with my cricut since I haven't made a card with it for a while. I used Make The Cut and it's database to create the card shape and bra. Then I added ribbon for straps and sponged the "skin" in crmb cake to add depth and dimension. It will be perfect for my husband :)
